The First Methodist Episcopal Church of Rock City Falls was named on March 1, 1844. The structure of 32 x 54 feet was built at a cost of $1,300. In 1866, that structure was raised and made into a two story building. On Sunday morning January 25th, 1920, all efforts failed to save the church from fire. Plans for a new church began immediately. The piano, reed organ, and pews that had been saved were placed therein (Milton Bicentennial Historical Postcard Series).
