True to our mission, Brookside is making our past relevant by working with local company, Pens Ink, to re-purpose wood from a fallen tree into beautiful works of art. Using only high quality materials, Pens Ink is turning Brookside wood into beautiful pens, fountain pens and wine stoppers. Each piece in this exclusive line of products is hand-turned and unique. Order HERE, or come to Brookside’s Gift Shop to see samples.
Pens and wine stoppers start at $59 and Brookside receives 50% of the profits, which go right back to supporting education programs for thousands of Capital Region children.
In 2011, Hurricane Irene left her mark on the Capital Region — devastating towns, annihilating historic structures, and forever changing local landscapes. Brookside was fortunately spared the worst of Irene’s wrath, however, her strength of force brought down one of the oldest trees on the museum’s historic property. About 100 years old, the Linden tree provided shade to most of the grounds and was a beautiful testament to Mother Nature.
A little bit about Pens Ink:
This project is a collaboration between Brookside and Pens Ink, a local company owned by a young girl named Anna Williams. Anna formed Pens Ink when she was 8 years old. With the help of her parents, has turned a hobby into a business. This young, Saratoga County entrepreneur is a talented producer of a great product! All Pens Ink projects use high quality ink, hardware, and finishes, and wine stoppers are 100% stainless steel. Each piece in this exclusive line of products is unique and all are turned by hand. Proceeds from this project support Brookside’s education programs, which are offered to several thousand Capital Region children each year.
