Join us on Thursday, November 19 at 7:00 pm for “War on the Middleline,” a presentation by Jim Richmond, a local independent historian.  He will discuss the story of the local conflict between the Rebels and the Loyalists that set the stage for the 1780 British raid on Middleline Road during the last years of the American Revolution.  The presentation will include a travelogue of the raid sites along this nearby road.  Jim has researched this topic as part of a local history book that he plans to release in the future.

These programs are free and open to the public, though donations are gratefully accepted.  Pre-registration is recommended but not required.  Presentations will be held at Brookside Museum, home of the Saratoga County Historical Society which is located at the intersection of Front Street, Charlton Street and Fairground Avenue in Ballston Spa.  Additional parking is located on Charlton Street and on Front Street near the Old Iron Spring.  Email education@brooksidemuseum.org or call 885-4000 for more information.

Saratoga Springs: A Centennial History – An Authors’ Panel and Discussion

Join us on Thursday, November 5 at 7:00 pm for a panel discussion of a variety of topics in Saratoga Springs history.  Some of the chapter authors of Saratoga Springs: A Centennial History, published in June of 2015, will share stories from the people, places and events of the city.  Field Horne, Editor in Chief of Saratoga Springs, will share information about the book project, research process, and also the early settlement era of the city.   Mary Ann Fitzgerald, Historian for the City of Saratoga Springs, will speak about the Homefront during WWII.   Rachel Clothier, Historian for the Town of Corinth will discuss “provisioning”, or how the city managed to feed and provide for thousands of tourists and residents every year throughout the nineteenth century.  The evening will conclude with a discussion and Q&A with the presenters.  Books will be available for purchase.

Around Milton Book Signing and Milton History Roundtable Discussion

Join us on Thursday, November 12 at 7:00 pm for a roundtable discussion with local historians about the history of Milton, New York and view a variety of images of the area.  Learn about Milton’s farms, industries, hamlets, people, and notable events.  The program will conclude with a signing of the recently published Around Milton by local author Tim Starr.  Part of the popular “Images of America” series, this book uses numerous photos to illustrate the history of the Town of Milton.  Books will be available for purchase.
