Saratoga County Historical Society at Brookside Museum - Jailhouse Rock and Roll Virtual Race

Jailhouse Rock and Roll Virtual Race

The Jailhouse Rock is going virtual this year and, for the first time open to cyclists as well as runners and walkers.  For years, the benefit 5K run for the Saratoga County Historical Society featured a route over Fairground Hill to the county jail and back.

The self-timed event includes options for 10, 25, or 50-mile bicycle rides, and is renamed Jail House Rock and Roll.  Participants will select their own routes and use an app to record their times.  Entry fees are $15 for individuals and $25 for families.

Participants must register before August 15.  The registration process begins atbrooksidemuseum.org.  Prompts are found beginning with “Upcoming Events.”  A sign-up button is at the top of the page maintained by Its Your Race.  Underdog Timing has donated its time to help organize the virtual event.

Runners, walkers, and cyclists will select their own route and record their times with Its Your Race’s app.  They have two weeks, between August 15 and August 28, to perform their virtual race.

An additional fundraiser for the History Center is the sale of commemorative 5K bandanas or ‘buffs.’  There are a limited number available.  The cost is $10.

Finishing times of participants will be posted on the History Center’s website on August 31.  The Historical Society encourages additional donations for this charity event to help fund its programs.

The History Center’s mission, supported by the “Rock and Roll,” is to instill in the county’s communities a deeper understanding of how the past informs and impacts our present and future.
