The Saratoga County History Center at Brookside Museum announces “Dyeing to Weave”

The Saratoga County History Center will present two talks on “Dyeing to Weave”. These will be held the Long Room and the gardens at Brookside Museum in Ballston Spa.

Ever wondered what color a particular plant produces? Ever considered making your own dyes from plants? Join accomplished dyer Nan Travers on Thursday, June 20th at 2pm, and discover the alchemy of coloring cloth. Nan will demonstrate mordants and dye colors made from local plants that our ancestors used. Register at https://brooksidemuseum.org/event/dying-to-weave-session-1/

On Friday, June 28th at 2pm, join Cristen Knite, member of the Hudson-Mohawk Weavers Guild, for a presentation and a demonstration of weaving. Cristen will exhibit examples of her work, and guests will also be given a hands-on opportunity to try weaving themselves. After the presentation, Kathleen Royka will lead a tour of the gardens. Register at https://brooksidemuseum.org/event/dyeing-to-weave-session-2/

Both programs are open to the public and free to attend, though donations are always gratefully accepted. Light refreshments will be served. Registrations are suggested.
