DESCRIPTION:The Saratoga County History Center  is pleased to welcome instrumentalists from the American Federation of Musicians to perform two concerts at Brookside Museum. Performers\, including several from the Albany Symphony Orchestra\, will be playing popular melodies on Brookside’s grand front porch while guests relax on the spacious front lawn. On July 25 at 3 p.m.\, the band will delight the crowd with jazz and dance tunes. Guests are encouraged to sing and dance along. Students and representatives from the famed Dance Factory of Saratoga Springs will be on hand to teach audience members a few basic steps and\, perhaps\, even put on a show. This concert is free and open to the public. Guests should bring their own lawn chairs or picnic blankets. Rain dates will be Wednesday\, July 28.

DESCRIPTION:Tickets are on sale now for the 26th Soroptimist Secret Gardens Tour set for Sunday\, July 11. The tour features a dozen unique gardens in Saratoga Springs (including three on one street)\, Ballston Spa\, and Schuylerville. \nVisitors will find a wide variety of designs and plantings\, water features and one-of-a-kind mosaics and sculptures. You’ll stroll through pergolas\, follow a path to a monarch butterfly waystation\, wander along a pond\, meander past fruit trees and brush past grasses. \nTickets are $25 in advance and $30 on the day of the tour\, if still available. This is a self-guided tour\, which will take place July 11 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.\, rain or shine. Garden descriptions\, a map and suggested driving directions are provided with the ticket\, but you go at your own pace in the order you like. \nTickets can be ordered online or purchased in person at Northshire Bookstore at 424 Broadway in Saratoga Springs; Lifestyles of Saratoga at 436 Broadway\, Saratoga Springs; all four Cudney’s Cleaners retail locations; and Faddegon’s Nursery at 1140 Troy Schenectady Road\, Latham. DESCRIPTION:On Saturday June 26  at 10:00 AM the Saratoga County History Roundtable will sponsor a tour of Clute’s Dry Dock on the Erie Canal at Vischer Ferry  The tour will be led by Clifton Park Town Historian John Scherer\, and will begin at the Historic Whipple Truss Bridge at the main entrance to the Vischer Ferry Nature and Historic Preserve.  The Walk will explore three versions of the Erie Canal – The original Clinton’s Ditch of 1825\, the enlarged canal of 1842\, and the Erie-Barge Canal of 1918 as well as Clifton Park’s first settlement at Fort’s Ferry. Grab your fedoras\, Panamas\, bowlers\, pork pies\, and boaters\, because May’s episode of END is all about hats! In particular\, the role hats have played in Saratoga’s storied social scene. Inspired by a spring 2021 course at Skidmore that utilizes Brookside Museum’s chapeaux collection\, Dr. Nechtman’s and Dr. Erica Bastress-Dukehart ‘s presentation will include stories\, students\, and some silliness. Participants are encouraged to wear their favorite topper and share their own social shenanigans. DESCRIPTION:Tour Anchor Diamond Park with Ballston Town Historian Rick Reynolds \nSaturday May 8  10 AM \n \nOn Saturday May 8  at 10:00 AM the Saratoga County History Roundtable will sponsor our first member event of 2021 “Take a Walk in the Park—with History:” Join Ballston Town Historian Rick Reynolds for an historic walking tour of Anchor-Diamond Park\, corner of Route 50 and Middleline Rd.\, Ballston Lake.  Please wear appropriate clothing and footwear for this two mile tour. Bug spray also recommended. Due to Covid-19\, please pre-register by e-mail to saratogacohistoryroundtable@gmail.com with number of attendees and your phone number for contact tracing.
