SUMMARY:Historians' Walking Tours: Round Lake
DESCRIPTION:A short walk\, led by local historians\, for people who enjoy and want to learn more about Saratoga County. \n\nLong time village residents Lance Spallholz (the Round Lake Village Historian) and Scott Rigney will bring the unique history of Round Lake to life\, explaining how the original wheel-and-spoke street configuration\, lined with tent lots\, was laid out for the Methodist Camp Meetings which began at Round Lake in 1868.\nAs you stroll through the village on the tour you will follow the original pathways created for people and horse drawn buggies used today as both sidewalks and streets. During our mile-long tour you will see the diverse Victorian cottage architecture that placed Round Lake on the National Register of Historic Places. We will also visit the locations of buildings that have been lost to time and hear their stories. The important structures that remain are both reminders of the past. and part of the fabric and pride of the community today.\nPlease park in the Zim Smith Trail parking lot in the village just east of Northway exit 11 and then meet across the street at the information kiosk.\nRecommended donation is $10 per group (individual\, couple or family)\, but please input the expected number of people in the group so that we can keep track of numbers. \nRegister HERE
