Families are invited to stop in for a hands-on and self-paced exploration of Saratoga County’s earliest inhabitants\, the Haudenosaunee people. Participants can try a hand at grinding corn\, examine how natural materials were used\, play with traditional games\, and event make a craft to take home.

DESCRIPTION:Join us for the Three Sisters Festival\, a celebration of Native American culture that will be held at Brookside Museum\, 21 Fairground Ave. Ballston Spa\, on Sunday\, August 17\, from 2-4pm. Our guest is Dr. Joseph Bruchac the Saratoga Springs’ Poet Laureate\, a storyteller and writer of short stories and novels with a focus on northeastern Native American lives and folklore. His history of Native Americans in our region\, the story of the Three Sisters and their garden of corn\, beans and squash\, and other tales of Native American lore are captivating. \nVisit the exhibit of Native American artifacts\, take a tour of the gardens\, and check out the Porch Sale\, and do-it-yourself kits of Native American stye necklaces and note cards by Brookside gardener Kathleen Royka. SUMMARY:Ballston Spa Beyond the Springs Walking Tour
DESCRIPTION:This unique tour of Ballston Spa will take you from Brookside Museum along the Railroad Abutment to The Factory on Kayderosseras Creek to experience the industrial history of the village. Assistant County Historian Anne Clothier and Brookside Museum Assistant Connor Murphy will describe the mills and factories that dominated the economy of the village after the era of the springs and resort hotels had passed. After climbing the stairs to the abutment\, the tour is an easy 1 mile walk. Registration required. Donations appreciated. \nThis event is sold-out.

This month\, History Scouts will travel back in time and learn what school was like long ago. Through a pop-up exhibit\, storytime\, learning activities\, crafts\, and play\, kids will explore classroom life from the past in this fun\, hands-on history experience.
