Saratoga Monument

Below is a photo of Saratoga Monument in Schuylerville. It was erected by the Saratoga Monument Assoc. to commemorate the surrender of Burgoyne on October 17, 1777. The corner stone was laid on October 17, 1877 and completed in June, 1883.

102 years ago this week, Governor Dix made the dedication speech of the Saratoga Battle Monument on October 18, 1912.

Jack Johnson, 1910

It was an exciting day for all Ballstonians when Jack Johnson stopped in the village on October 8, 1910. Johnson was the heavyweight champion of the world when he and his diminutive manager posed for this picture.
