We are housed at 21 Fairground Ave. in historic Ballston Spa, NY. Originally built as a resort hotel in 1792, the museum’s history is as diverse as the people who visited here. The manse is among the oldest hotel buildings still standing in the United States and is on the National Register of Historic Places. At one time a boys’ school, the building has also been a private residence, a boarding house, a sanitarium, and apartments. In 1970, Saratoga County History Center purchased the building and opened it as a museum. SCHC offers the Capital Region exhibit galleries, a hands-on-history room, a conference space for businesses, a research library, and a local artisans gift shop.

Gift Shop

The SCHC Gift shop is filled with items made by local artisans. Shop for unique gift items including: toys, jewelry, cards, home decor, mugs, CDs, original art work by local artists, books of local historical interest and more.

Open during museum hours, The SCHC Gift Shop’s most popular feature is our collection of books on hard-to-find local and regional topics by local authors. Each purchase supports the museum’s education programs that serves thousands of regional children.

Don’t forget to visit our Artisan’s Market from mid-November through late December, where you will find hundreds of locally crafted items.
