Sam McKenzie, Brookside museum researcher, will discuss the lives of Isaac and Nicholas Low, successful 18th century merchants and land speculators. New York City men to the core, they nevertheless cast a long shadow in Northern New York State and in the Village of Ballston Spa in particular. One became embroiled in the politics of the War of Independence, and was destroyed by it. The other remained aloof and profited hugely. Their divergent paths and their influence on the early history of Saratoga County will be examined. This program is free and open to the public, though donations are gratefully accepted.
