Saratoga County Historical Society at Brookside Museum - Visiting the Research Room

Visiting the Research Room

Access to the Irena Wooton Research Room is by appointment only. We request that you give us as much notice as possible before you visit. The best way to reach the research team is via email, research@brooksidemuseum.org. After you submit your request, a team member will contact you to confirm your appointment. That will also give us time to get materials ready for you.

Use of the library is free for members of SCHC, as a benefit of their membership. For non-members the fee is $5 per day.

Our 2021 building reorganization allowed us to move the Irena Wooton Research Room to a spacious location on the 2nd floor, thereby freeing up exhibition space on the 1st floor. Those visitors who may find it difficult to reach the 2nd floor are welcome to work at a table on the 1st floor, and research materials will be brought down to them.

Inside the Research Room

Food and beverages of any kind are not permitted in the Research Room. Coats, purses and bags should be placed in the designated storage space away from the work table. Laptops and tablets for note taking are permitted. Smoking is not permitted on the grounds or inside the building

Handling Materials

Only pencil may be used in the library. Materials must be handled carefully. All materials must be used flat on the table. Do not make any marks on materials or affix extraneous items such as Post-It notes. No books, papers, or other objects (except special weights used to hold materials flat) may be laid upon materials. Please report to the staff any concerns about the material and comply with any staff instructions regarding materials. A member of the research team will retrieve and rehouse items for your use. Please do not help yourself.
