Welcome to The Compass!

Welcome to The Compass!

October 7, 2021

The trustees of the Saratoga County History Center are elated to announce the launch of a new online publication, The Saratoga County Compass.

The Compass will feature all the latest findings from public history practioners, professional scholars, and experts from a wide variety of fields. Saratoga County history will be the focus, but, like our popular “Experts Next Door” virtual speaker series, we welcome submissions from anyone interested in sharing their experiences. Whether it’s cutting-edge historical research, musings from a classroom teacher, photo essays, student contributions, or observations by professional pundits, we are pleased to showcase and celebrate scholarly endeavors.

The editor of The Compass is Dr. Michael Landis, trustee and Public Programs Manager at the Saratoga County History Center. In addition to being a published author and college professor, Dr. Landis currently serves on the editorial board of The Gristmill, and has previously edited the HAS Blog for Historians Against Slavery (an international coalition of scholars dedicated to combatting unfree labor and human trafficking). Submissions should be sent to Dr. Landis at mlandis@brooksidemuseum.org.
