Join Saratoga County Historian Lauren Roberts Monday, August 15 at 10am for a one-hour walking tour along the county’s popular Zim Smith Trail. Leaving from the parking area in Round Lake on Curry Road, learn about how the route of one of New York ‘s earliest railroads changed over time to become designated a National Recreation Trail. Abandoned by the D & H in 1965, this former railroad line was acquired by Saratoga County to help meet its growing infrastructure needs. Through decades of hard work by determined individuals and a mix of local and federal funding, the Zim Smith Trail is now the busiest trail in the county, stretching from Ballston Spa to Mechanicville.
