Saratoga County Funds a Community History Exhibit at the History Center
Covid Money Funds an Exhibition on the History of Saratoga County
Today, the Saratoga County History Center in Ballston Spa announced a $25,000 grant from the Saratoga Non-Profit Relief Grant Fund. These funds will support an immersive exhibition designed and built by professionals on the history of Saratoga County to open in spring 2023.

“The History Center was challenged by COVID, and the community has supported us by increased memberships; however, the organization needed help regaining fiscal momentum with exhibitions, the lifeblood of a museum,” explains Field Horne, president of the SCHC. “The support of the Saratoga County Board of Supervisors makes possible our strategic plan developed by SCORE volunteers, a partner of the U.S. Small Business Administration at the Saratoga County Chamber of Commerce.”
Saratoga County Board of Supervisors Chairman, Theodore T. Kusnierz, Jr., said, “The Saratoga County History Center provides an immeasurable service in their dedication to the preservation of our county’s rich history and is a deserving recipient of a Saratoga County Non-Profit COVID Relief fund grant. This $25,000 grant will help the Center continue to provide our residents and visitors with an inviting space to learn about important events and people in Saratoga County history.”
Sean Kelleher, SCHC 1st vice president, said, “This grant represents the faith of the Saratoga County Board of Supervisors in the value of SCHC as a benchmark cultural institution in our region, and cultural institutions have long been a critical sector in our economy. As we continue rebuilding a stronger Saratoga County, we must do all we can to help this industry thrive. SCHC will be able to continue educating people as we approach the 250th Anniversary of the American Revolution and help spur revitalization in our community.”

The funding will help SCHC deliver on its mission to bring a deeper understanding, for residents and visitors alike, of how the past informs and impacts our present and future in Saratoga County,” added Isobel Cornell, 2nd vice president of SCHC. “Thank you to the Saratoga County Board of Supervisors.”
With this grant, the organization will create an exhibit with a lifespan of about a decade. An exhibit of this magnitude and quality should result in a steady audience and sustainable fiscal support. It will provide an engaging orientation for residents and visitors about the county’s history and be a backdrop for developing new public and school programs. This development should lead to additional partnerships with cultural and educational institutions and increase outreach to audiences and donors.
The Saratoga County History Center is dedicated to the preservation and sharing of the diverse histories of Saratoga County.
